MusiKid: For this Christmas

For this Christmas

Hello everybody! Hope you are having a ball and enjoying some Christmas/New Year and prepairing for the final night of the year to come. Well, me doing the same thing. Since we haven`t heard for a long time and I am still breathing, I am giving you some after-Christmas gift. I give you For this Christmas. I wrote this one while times got really rough for me and I felt every word I wrote. So since I`ve complained we have no song telling about the more realistic part of Christmas, here it goes. Go figure, I didnt know we will get it that soon:)
You could not escape anything that is meant to be, but I hope such verses as below will happen to you as less as possible. For those facing some of the the blue thoughts, I wish you all to carry the next year and all the others with somebody who will help carry it with you.

For this Christmas some will be lonely
For this Christmas some will be blue
For this Christmas some lights won`t be shining
For this Christmas some dreams won`t come true

For this Christmas some hearts will be stolen
For this Christmas some words won`t be new
For this Christmas some things will be broken
For this Christmas some won`t know what to do

Chorus:

For this Christmas
For this Christmas
For this Christmas
I`ll carry it with you

For this Christmas life won`t get easy
For this Christmas some prayers won`t see through
For this Christmas some tears won`t be drying
For this Christmas some eyes wouldn` move

Chorus

For this Christmas some phones won`t be ringing
For this Christmas some things would get too heavy to do
For this Christmas some will be waiting
For this Christmas
I`ll carry it with you

Have a peaceful year and I wish luck to you all!

Meeting up with: THEY SURE KNOW HOW TO CHRISTMAS

They sure know how to Christmas

What is the first thing you think of when someone brings the Christmas up? I mean, of course, it`s the tree, candies, Santa, turkey, snow (well the snow is falling down here so rarely that I put it on the fifth place)...  But what else?  For me, and I`m sure for many others of you out there, Christmas has to do something  with the Christmas spirit. And Christmas spirit goes with Christmas songs. I cannot imagine December without hearing carols for the whole month, prepairing me for »The Night« finally to come.  The older, the better, I guess, but even some new ones ain`t pretty bad. Hearing everything you need to know about snow, Rudolf who is taking Santa right to your chimney and great Santa guy who is then checking his list to get you some of your most wanted gifts, you`ve never expected to get, seem to be just fine, but I guess do not appeal to me anymore. Well, this is the moment, you`d practically say, c`mon girl, what is your problem? But yet, there are so many of such and they are coming to you so strong and with such intense, you buy it. You start believing it and if you don`t get to live like that, you better start, cuz otherwise you`de be called a freak. Capitalism or whatever this thing might be called has a great influence even on such primary and simple things as holidays. Christmas is one of the greatest achievements capitalism has done in the whole history. And I suppose it shall only get further.
So, to get down to it, before, I never wandered how it feels to be on the other side. I was happily sitting on my sofa in my (probably) red or green dress and some cristal jewelry, helping with the too huge dinner and watching our over-lighted and over-decorated house and killing myself for the whole December what to get anybody for Christmas. (Including running around the stores, complaining over the crowd and then thinking over and over again if that was really the right thing to buy for my mom etc.)  But as I grew older, the more and more I started to walk towards that other side. Or not to say I walked,  I even opened up the door to let it in. Not to mention some persons, who are my closest friends and do not celebrate Christmas at all, I also couldn`t imagine, how it feels to be when not everything is right on Christmas. I could say I`ve been there and I know how it feels, but when you listen to such Christmas spirit, advertised everywhere, I`ve mentioned before, Christmas propaganda working through the songs, I`ve never heard many songs about people, for whom the things we usually deal with durng Christmas time (and take them really seriously, such as gifts, how to make your turkey taste delicious, what to wear on new year`s eve etc) seem  the final thing to think about. But yet I did. I can`t remember when it happened and why, but I`ve always liked Lennon`s War is over.  This piece has always been and remains my favourite Christmas song ever. The melody is so simple, the vocal lines are so clear and yet the message is so strong. And when I hear the sound of the children, accompaining him in the chorus, I feel like yeah,« let`s hope it`s a good one«.  I feel so sad and yet happy. I know this one was written for special purpose during those years, but pacifistic message could be understood whenever and even wherever. It even has to do something with you or relations in your closest area, your family. Not reaching my favourite one, but still close to the top, comes Do they know it`s Christmas time at all. I like the idea Bono get to combine such great sound with charity purpose. And not only  this, the greatest value of this song it`s once again, in its message. Just to raise awareness. To tell people, somewhere outside our »safe«  (and as I could say »blind«) world  are people, who don`t even have the time to think of Christmas, cuz the »the greatest gift they get is gift of life«.  I like the cover of the album. It might be strong, but strong is what you need when trying to achieve something. This year, 20 years after Do they know it`s Christmas came out, some artists got together again and did the same thing. Bono was yet again working, but what might be funny is, that when I listen to the original, I know everybody, but now, I barely know few. (Well, my own problem, I suppose).
Just to say, for me, these people sure know how to Christmas. It might be far more easier to just enjoy the holidays when you have too much of everyhing. Even though such songs got popular, they might never reach the popularity of the ultra hits, providing exclusive Christmas spirit. Maybe for people don`t want to bother about problems in December, maybe because they have they own. But let`s just think. December and 24th of December are days as all the others. 24th might not feed a hungry man on the street, 24th might not wipe tears from one`s eyes, 24th might be the loneliest day for someone. On 24th not all people will be merry. And we might need a song for that.

Kid`s Pit: THE CHRISTMAS CAROL CONTEST

Kid`s Pit: THE CHRISTMAS CAROL CONTEST

The whole year, I mean the whooole year I keep waiting for this thing called December. And if you look closer, it`s not even the whole month, its one single day. Or one single evening, better said. And when you look even closer, it`s practically few hours I guess. And so, few minutes before midnight I catch myself thinking how this whole excitement just passed by like nothing and how I better get ready for another year if I don`t wanna get too depressed. That night used to be sleepless for the whole childhood of mine because in my mind there were so many questions like what Santa will get me that year and all. Now I sort of start feeling what this thing called Christmas used to be. I feel more and more like it has to do something with the family, having one peaceful dinner together, watching the snow outside (or even pretending to be so) and having fun while finding probably 1001st place on the tree to put some final pieces on the already over-decorated tree. I try to remember all the good things I`ve done past year and every moment that made me feel happy. And what I`ve also been doing for the past few years, is keeping list of (of course) my favourite Christmas songs. No, I didn`t get you some sweet moments from a romantic Christmas concert, but I present you my very own Christmas carol contest (15 songs I`ve chosen and 15 songs that seriously need to be part of your Christmas playlist).

We`ll be going from No. 15 to the top.

#15: It`s the most wonderful time of the year (Andy Williams)
Every time I hear it, in a second I have the whole melody in my head and Andy`s charming voice.

#14: Winter wonderland (Dean Martin)
Another Christmas vinyl, to keep you warm when probably some snow is falling outside and you are feeling warm next to the fireplace.

#13: Santa Claus is coming to town (John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie)
Probably a good thing to listen when waiting for Santa with some milk and  cookies.

#12: It`s Christmas time again (Johnny Matis)
Something raspier but yet very tender for Christmas Eve. But we just love such sound, don`t we?

#11: Do they know it`s Christmas (Band aid)
I  can`t imagine Christmas without this one. I love the old 1984 version, the whole idea of Christmas in a different, not so romantic version as we all have the perception. But my hats go off also to the this year cover about Ebola. Way to go!

#10: Rockin` around Christmas tree (Brenda Lee)
..at the Christmas party hop! Great for a Christmas party. Have a happy holiday!

#9: Mistletoe and wine (Cliff Richard)
When I feel this one it makes me feel like dancing. I love the melody and Cliff`s interpretation of this piece. Have a glass of wine and someone to take you under the mistletoe.

#8: Driving home for Christmas (Chris Rea)
Since I`ve literally tried how it feels to be driving home for Christmas, I love Chris`s raspy voice in the way he makes this song a bit melancholic.

#7: Last Christmas (Wham)
I know, I know, you`re gonna say this one it`s been played so many times, but if reconsider, there is no Christmas without it. I think in a few years it might even beat Jingle bells. Just kidding, but anyway, I can`t feel Christmas untill I feel the intro and George`s first tones in this one.

#6: Thank God it`s Christmas (Queen)
Hell yeah, thank God for Christmas so the Queen did this great song. I their own style, this piece is a proof Christmas song could be done with more like rock notes.

#5: Carol of the bells
I love all the versions, all the singers no matter what, as long as it keeps those crescendos and minor chords. (I bet you already figured it out that I like more melancholic Christmas songs)

#4: Have yourself a merry little Christmas (Judy Garland)
Once I read someone classified this song as one of the saddest Christmas songs ever, but I think this could be the whole point of it. There are too many over sweet cliche songs for Christmas.
 This one is astonishing.
AND HERE WE GO! READY FOR TOP 3?

#3: Chestnuts roasting on an open fire (Nat King Cole)
I cried when I heard it for the first time. This slow rhytm and the melody make it so hearable, I wanna play it over and over again.

#2: White Christmas
Even if it ain`t white, this one makes us believe. There are only two verses of this song (of still unknown author) and a jazzy melody and that is why this will be classic of all times.

#1: Happy X-mas (War is over) (John Lennon)
My favourite since I was really a Kid. The accompainment done by choir, the melody and its message are making it so special, it will always remain on the top of the lists.
